Hello, I am "Escorpion".  A few years ago, as I was approaching my mid-40s, I decided to lose a little weight, quit smoking, and improve my diet.  I guess as a single person, I started to worry about these things. I began to ride my bike to the beach, then a little mountain biking, a few longer rides and that summer I finished my first century (a 100 mile ride). I became an avid long distance cyclist and yes, I did quit smoking!!

Then, a new goal was needed and along with cycling, I wondered if I could finish a marathon.  I went out jogging but was stopped with very painful shin splints.  I tried to accept that running was not my thing, but the idea remained in the back of my mind.  So a few years later in the summer of 2007, I attempted and persisted with proper training.  I trained for seven months, ran over 1,000 miles, and was chased by 3 dogs twice by the same little s***!  On January 27, 2008, I completed the ING Miami Marathon.  Now, a new goal… Triathlons?

Having a social worker background, when I became aware of The Multiple Sclerosis Society 150 mile bike tour fundraiser, I realized that this was one way I could try to make a difference in my community by helping others.

Now, a few years later, I find myself participating in as many charity events as possible. These events allow me to give a little, to help a little. Find more information about these charities by going to the Participate page.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my web page and please sign my guestbook.  I am always happy to answer any questions, receive any comments, or if you need additional information, please feel free to email me.

I would like to thank Carole, the originator of this web-page, who's dear mom suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. Also, a big "thank you" to Cathy for helping me update and improve the web-site. I know that you are working hard on this page... Your hard work, enthusiasm, and kindness is a great contribution that is helping a lot of people that unfortunately suffer from Multiple Sclerosis, Cancer, and other diseases. I do my small share by riding my bicycle and participating in as many charity events as I can. Without your generous help I would not be able to do my part.  THANK YOU!
